An Overview and a Plea…
The Sprout course is our roadmap to develop a technical foundation for drumming and hand technique. We made this because we know that starting out a drumming journey can be intimidating. Questions arise.
Where do I begin?
Am I too old for this?
How do I sift through the thousands of overwhelming hours of drumming content that exists on the internet?
How can I ever become as good as my musical heroes? Are they mystics?
Well, first off, no they are not mystics. See, people think that great musicians have a unique gift. It’s that ever pervasive nature vs. nurture debate. Well I have the secret for you. They aren’t any more gifted and capable than you are and it doesn’t matter at what age you started.
See, we’ve taught a lot of music over the years. A WHOLE LOT. And there are two factors that truly determine a person’s ability to progress and learn an instrument:
Having structure and a plan.
Repeating things consistently.
That’s it. The entire key to learning. Having a plan, structuring out what you need to know next, and then repeating things over and over again until it’s comfortable.
Now, it all sounds easy. But, we know it’s not. I struggle to maintain routines all the time. We know this and that’s why we made this course. We’ve done the research, we’ve become experts in our field, we’ve created the structure of information and we’ve formatted it into a plan. The SPROUT course.You’re capable of being a great musician if you trust the process, stay consistent and present, and for the love of god have some fun with it!
How To Approach This Course
Here’s how this is going to go. We’ve made videos intended to be watched and followed across seven different days. But, this is a go-at-your-own pace structure. If you’re fast as lightening and want to move through everything in one day, go for it. If you identify as a snail and want to take your time, also cool. But just know that consistency is our second tenant of learning to be a musician. That’s why we’ve structured things to be organized into a 7-day cycle. CONSISTENCY.
